The present show in 2012 is composed of two bigger parts: one if them is a special selection of vintage photographs taken between 1967 and 1977, the prints were made in the late 1970s. Amongst these prints are some pictures which were never exhibited or published before. The other part consists of colour photographs, taken between 2005 and 2011. These works are the 'continuation' of those made during the past decades: 'The latest photographs in this exhibition follow the same pattern, exploring in depth what has happened to the remnants of the old world Korniss first photographed over forty years ago, and those parts of it which have survived. [...] And Korniss realised early on that traditions - especially rituals - 'created masterly forms'", writes Colin Ford about these photographs. Colin Ford, curator of the photo exhibition presenting Hungarian photography in London (Eyewitness - Royal Academy of Arts, 2011), founding director of the British National Media Museum will open Péter Korniss's exhibition on January 26th.
Continuing - as the title shows - will reveal to us a familiar world, imbeded this time in a visual context representing a milestone in Korniss's œuvre. His life-work embracing 45 years up to now is really unique, the process he 'preserves' is unrepeatable - this is from what the public will see a selection between January 26th and February 25th.
