The Visual Gallery at photokina 2010

Cologne, Germany - September 21 to 26, 2010

Visual Gallery: Masterpieces of Photography

Traditionally the Visual Gallery, which is part of photokina — world of imaging , acts as a bridge between documentary photography, photographic design, photojournalism, and art photography. A particular highlight this year is the fact that the Visual Gallery will be presenting not only masterpieces by internationally recognized photographers but also works by award-winning young artists, as well as a selection of the 2010 Sony World Photography Awards winners. Among the highlights of the Visual Gallery 2010 are the photographs of Paris by Ed van der Elsken, the fantasy worlds of Anett Stuth, and works by Michael von Graffenried, the winner of the Dr. Erich Salomon Prize 2010. The contribution “The Truth about the Moon Landing” by Thomas Herbrich will certainly inspire lively discussion. Other stops along the exhibition trail include the presentations by the Leica Camera AG, the introduction of the "Hasselblad Masters 2009" and the winner of the Canon Promotional Award for Professional Photographers.

The Visual Gallery will once again be the core element of a unique creative center that is a meeting point made "by professionals for professionals" in Hall 1. In addition to the Visual Gallery, this meeting point also includes the areas "Meet the professionals" and "Academy meets photokina". The 2010 Visual Gallery’s curator is ART COLOGNE Director Daniel Hug, and its organizer is Juliane Rückriem. Admission to the Visual Gallery will once again be free for visitors in 2010.
