The opening of the Sony World Photography Awards exhibition at the Museu da Imagem e do Som was a great success and well attended by press, local photographers and of course, Argentinian photojournalist, Alejandro Chaskielberg, 2011 Winner L'Iris d'Or. Alejandro gave a fascinating lecture on his winning images which have been lauded internationally and first discovered by Martin Parr.

The winners of the City Project workshop (9th - 15th January) were also announced, for both student and professional photographers. The top 3 photographers of both categories won Sony cameras and the overall Student Winner, Pamela Facco will be flown to London to take part in the Student Focus programme as part of the World Photo, London Festival in April.
