Choosing to focus on clean lines, a minimal colour palette, and highlighting just the core elements of a scene is a real skill in photography. Some of the world’s most celebrated photographers have mastered the minimalist approach, including Michael Kenna, Hiroshi Sugimoto and Franco Fontana. Often seen in architecture and landscape photography, minimalism can be across all different genres and is a technique we often see in entries to the Sony World Photography Awards.
