National & Regional Awards: first look

Today is an exciting day at the World Photography Organisation as we reveal the recipients of the 2023 National & Regional Award. Placing local talent on a global stage, the programme rewards 61 photographers from 55 countries.

Chosen from entries to the Sony World Photography Awards Open competition, which received an impressive 200,000 entries from 200 countries and territories, the 2023 results illustrate the varied styles, techniques, and approaches mastered by today’s photographers and highlight the exciting ever-changing nature of the medium.

Supporting the world’s photography community by giving them the international exposure they deserve, the National & Regional Awards programme has rewarded more than 700 photographers since its inception. Alongside promotion on the World Photography Organisation channels, recipients receive Sony digital imaging kit plus inclusion in the Sony World Photography Awards book and exhibition.

An exciting addition to this year’s programme are four new Regional Awards. Set up by the World Photography Organisation and Sony Europe to spotlight photographic talent, Awards are divided into four categories the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, the Romania & Moldova Regional Award; the Latvia, Estonia & Lithuania Regional Award; the Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Bosnia & Herzegovina Regional Award; and the Cyprus, Greece, Bulgaria & North Macedonia Regional Award.
