I am unable to upload my images, what should I do?

  • Please ensure that your image files are above 1MB and smaller than 5MB, and in JPG or JPEG format. It may be that your images are too large for the local Internet connection and we suggest that you resize all the pictures and try again.
  • Please ensure that you filled-in all required image/entry fields

I am not really sure if my Images have been submitted.

  • If your submission is successful you will receive a confirmation email. There is a chance that this email might be in your spam folder or it might have been filtered out by your email provider.
  • You can also check the status of your submissions at users.worldphoto.org under the competitions tab, images that are successfully submitted are marked as  "Submitted". If they are not submitted successfully they are marked as "Draft"
  • If you are still unsure use this form to contact us.


The color of my images is not displayed correctly on the website.
In order for your images to display correctly on a browser, they must be in RGB or sRGB color mode. You can have a look at  Preparing Images for the Web: Color Profiles, sRGB and Adobe RGB for more info on color profiles that are suitable for the web.

 

My images are displayed in low quality on the entry process and the entries' listing on my account. 
Please also note that what you see on your profile is only a low-resolution thumbnail, that is created only for reference. The judges will be able to see your images in full resolution.

 

Can I change my images after submission?
No. Once you have selected to ‘submit’ your images into a specified category, you will not be able to change it.

 

Can I enter my images in other competitions?
Yes. You can enter your images in other photography competitions; we have no exclusivity rights to your images.


Do the sponsors have rights to use my image? Will my images be used in any other way?
All entrants understand that any image submitted to the competition may be used by Sony World Photography Awards, for the sole purpose of promoting the competition and the photographers themselves.

 

How much does it cost to enter the Sony World Photography Awards competitions?
The Sony World Photography Awards are free to enter.

 

How many images can I upload?

  • In the Professional competition, you can enter a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 images per category. You may enter as many categories as you wish.
  • In the Open competition, you can enter up to 3 free images. These images can be entered into different categories or just one category. You will be able to submit more images if you buy one or more of our image bundles. Please go to users.worldphoto.org/order to see all the available options.
  • In the Youth competition, you can enter up to 3 images in total for free.  You will be able to submit more images if you buy one or more of our image bundles. Please go to users.worldphoto.org/order to see all the available options.

 

Can I enter the same image in different categories?
No, this is not allowed.

 

How do I submit my images?
All images should be submitted online through the Competitions section of the World Photography Organisation users' site. Please note that you will need to log-in or register for an account with us to get access. You can see a list of the current competitions at worldphoto.org/competitions

 

What size/format file should I submit?

  • Images should be no smaller than 1MB and no larger than 5MB. You can find useful information on how to check the file size of your image here.
  • Images should be JPG or JPEG files. All images must be saved in the RGB color model. All entrants must be able to supply a high-resolution image suitable for printing in exhibitions and marketing materials should the image be required.
  • If you do need to resize your images and make the file size smaller but do not have the suitable software you can also use picresize.com or a similar online service.

 

Can I submit manipulated images? Can I use Photoshop?
Images can be manipulated, however, the manipulation must be clearly outlined within the image description.

 

I have images in original negatives, how can I enter these?
These will need to be scanned into a digital file and then uploaded online through the Competitions section of the World Photography Organisation users' site. Please state in the image description that the images have been scanned from negatives.

 

Should there be a watermark/copyright information added to the images entered into the competition?
No. All images must be clear of any copyright information so that the photographer identity is not revealed by the image.  In the interest of fairness, the judges are not allowed to see the names of the photographers when judging. Any images that do contain photographers names on the image or any other watermark/copyright information, will be disqualified from being presented to the judges.

 

Are there any restrictions on image file sizes or file types?

  • Images must be uploaded in JPEG  format and be saved in RGB or sRGB color model. The file size must be between 1MB and 5MB. We will automatically compress and resize images for display on the website.
  • If you do need to resize your images and make the file size smaller but do not have the suitable software you can also use picresize.com or a similar online service.

 

Can images be taken on camera phones be entered into the competition?
You can submit images taken with any kind of phone,  but images should be no smaller than 1MB in order to enter them, and a higher resolution version may still be required.

 

Can I submit my images on a CD, URL Link or in a book?
No, all images must be submitted online, through the Competitions section of the World Photography Organisation users' site.

 

Is judging anonymous?
Yes, we respect the integrity of the photographers and therefore judging is anonymous.  Judges will not know the names of any of the entrants.

 

Is stacking of photos allowed?.
Yes, this is allowed. 

 

Is nudity allowed?
Please note that nudity is accepted, however sexually explicit content like pornography is not allowed

 

Can I submit photos of animals?
You can enter wildlife images as long as there is no harm or abuse in the animals photographed

I have forgotten my password
If you have forgotten your password please visit the password reset page to reset it. If the email address you fill in is the one associated with your account you will receive a password reset email. Follow the instructions in the email to reset your password.  

Please note: If you use an email address that it's not associated with your account you will not receive an email.

Remember our password rules: 

Your password needs to contain:

  • At least 8 characters
  • 1 uppercase letter
  • 1 lowercase letter
  • 1 number
  • 1 symbol

Your password cannot contain:

  • Your name
  • Your email address (for example if your email address is [email protected] you can include “photographer” on your password)

 

I have tried to reset my password but I didn't get the email

I have checked my spam folder but I still couldn't find the reset password email
There is a possibility that your account has been blocked because you've tried to use the wrong password too many times, in this case, we will need to re-activate your account. Please use this form to contact us in order to help you. 

 

I can't log in, I get the error message: Spam has been detected.  
Please make sure that you do not use any plugin on your browser that prefills fields like username and password. If you do please either disable the plugin or try using a different browser with no plugin installed. If the problem persists, please use this form to contact us.

 

What is my Remaining image allowance?

  • For the Open & Youth competitions, your remaining image allowance is displayed under your profile picture at users.worldphoto.org. if you have purchased or trying to purchase a bundle and you are facing an issue please use this form to contact us.
  • For the Professional competition, there is no image limit you can enter from 5-10 images per category.

Image Bundles (for Open & Youth competitions)

What is an Image Bundle?
Image Bundles can be bought to enter additional images on top of the three free images allowed to all participants of the Open & Youth competitions. Image Bundles cannot be used in the Professional competition.

 

I am having problems with purchasing Image bundles
