Liz Hingley, Smethwick Streets

Smethwick is one of England's most ethnically diverse towns. As well as being a reception area for newly arrived immigrants. It is a longstanding neighbourhood of Irish, Sikh, Muslim, Afro-Caribbean and White British communities. This series goes behind the doors, within just four streets, of densely terraced housing, which were built for the workers of the nineteenth century industrial era.
