"In the Arctic Circle there is a place in Northern Yukon where the Fishing Branch River doesn’t freeze in the winter. Here, grizzly bears continue to chase salmon in temperatures of -30°C, their wet fur instantly freezing as they get out of the water. The white icicles create a strong contrast against their dark fur, giving their faces profound and varied expressions.

The personality of each one of these ‘ice bears’ is something unique. They may be large animals, but they are dwarfed by the immense forests of Yukon. The bears roam this harsh frozen environment day in, day out – they are the ultimate survivors. Spending a week among them I was awed by their strength and resilience. "
