The Black & White series 'On Thin Ice' was shot on Greenland in the summer of 2015 as an assignment for the environmental organisation Greenpeace.

Around 10 percent of the Earth is covered with glacial ice, including glaciers, ice caps, and the ice sheets of Greenland and Antarctica. The glaciers around the world store about 75 percent of the world’s fresh water and if all land ice melted, sea level would rise approximately 70 meters worldwide. Climate change is taking its toll on the planet and its inhabitants. Nowhere else is this more visible than in the Arctic. The region is warming twice as fast as anywhere else on earth, and over the last few decades its sea ice has experienced a dramatic decline. It’s a bitter irony that this profound change is seen not as a stark warning, but instead an opportunity for governments and oil companies to drill for the same oil that caused the melting in the first place. Despite rapid and profound changes, the Arctic remains an incredibly hostile place to drill for oil.
