This bearded seal was spotted on an ice floe directly beneath the 30-metre-high edge of a glacier on the coast of Svalbard. The photographer observed as the world above the seal collapsed, as huge chunks of ice broke off and thundered into the water behind it.

The cenotes in Cancun, Mexico, are bathed in a breathtaking light. One diver, perfectly attuned to the angle of this light, posed to create the illusion of weightlessness, as if he were running. A cartoon-like landscape unfolded before my eyes, and I had no reason not to press the shutter.

Captured in Batangas on Sept 6, 2025, this mobile phone shot freezes a split-second leap of a local boatman. I wanted to showcase the "Motion" found in daily coastal life, the explosive power of the jump contrasted against a flat horizon. This candid moment captures the subject in mid-air, turning a routine movement into a study of gravity and grace.

Beyond the Rules

In Japanese sumo, wrestlers throw salt onto the ring as a sacred ritual to purify the dohyō and to pray for the safety of the rikishi. In this photograph, salt appears to be thrown toward the referee. However, this did not become a serious issue, as it was a demonstration intended to explain sumo rules and traditions while entertaining the audience. The moment was filled with both powerful energy and humor, which is why I chose this image.
