"Dream Production" by Léonie Synnott-Bruson
My series is about the need to show every facet of our personality on social media. This social revolution, representative of the 21st century, is the result of technological evolution. I notice that humans are investing lots of time into staging their life for a picture. According to me, each image we see on social media is a construction just like every other photographic staging. The need of self-representation on social media transcends the state of being, and this new need is the principal theme of my series. I created this series with a humoristic aproach, using unreal lighting to support my subject. I tried to demonstrate what is, according to me, behind selfies. My intention with this photo essay is not to shake the viewer by accusing technology; I just wanted to build a humoristic portrait of this new phenomenon. My series is more an observation than a condemnation.
