Created in response to speaking to Sony's international teams and seeing the need to celebrate local talent through the Sony World Photography Awards, the National & Regional Awards programme is a hugely successful initiative ensuring all participating markets are guaranteed a winner. 

Having a local winner gives Sony markets greater visibility, increases awareness of Sony supporting local photographic culture, and offers many more press and marketing opportunities outside of the Awards' core competitions.

The National & Regional Awards programme is unique in its scale and influence. It rewards local photographic talent by uncovering the best single images entered into any of the Awards' ten Open competition categories by photographers of the National & Regional Awards' countries or regions.

In essence, it is a free promotional asset for Sony to use locally and the World Photography Organisation will support you to deliver results.

The National & Regional Awards programme increases the local and international visibility of Sony supporting photographic culture. Enjoy the 2024 winning images in this dedicated gallery. 

In addition, it can:

• Create local advocates and ambassadors
• Generate local visibility that will help raise awareness and exposure to photographers
• Generate marketing opportunities
• Increase press coverage: reach, articles, interviews, press conferences

• Every country registered in the National & Regional Award programme will have at least one winner and the market needs to provide Sony digital imaging equipment as the minimum prize for each of their winners. All variations on this arrangement need to be agreed in advance with the World Photography Organisation.
• Please note that it is essential to register before the deadline (17th May 2024) to be included into the 2025 National & Regional Award programme.
• To be eligible for the National & Regional Awards, the photographer must be a citizen of, and currently residing, in your selected country, unless an exception has been specifically agreed with the World Photography Organisation.

• 26 April 2024: Registration opens
• 17 May 2024: Registration closes
• 1 June 2024: National & Regional Awards open to the public. Launch supported by a webpage, social media and email campaigns. 
• January 2025: Submission to National & Regional Awards closes
• February 2025: National & Regional Awards winners’ announced (dates will be confirmed)
