The global population is predicted to reach 11 billion within the next few decades, so too will demand for animal products already being consumed at detrimental cost to the planet. Companies like JUST Inc. in California are turning to lab grown meat from cellular culture to mitigate society's impact on Earth’s natural resources. By taking single cells from poultry and other livestock without harm, labs like this mimic natural growing conditions (heat, movement, nutrition) prompting cells to multiply until muscle tissue develops as a result. Cellular lab-grown products require a fraction of the water and land used in traditional farming, sterile growing conditions translates to zero food-born illnesses, and animal welfare will improve with the scale of these operations.
