Image description

I took this picture in a waiting room. The difference in colour of the two chairs next to one another caught my eye. This reminded me of my country, Indonesia, where different cultures exist side by side, and that is what makes people interested in visiting it.

The Overview
I do a lot of sketches, and each artwork uses a lot of pencils. While some of my used pencils get thrown away, these ones were kept for this photograph, which displays their beauty.
Robyn Barron
Isopogon latifolius
Botanical Journal is a series that is close to my heart. It came about after I made a journal for my granddaughter who lives in California (I am in Australia), showing her my great love for our native flora. This image is a composite of two layers that were photographed in a studio using natural light, and then combined to give the impression of an old journal.
Marcos Medina Garcia
Balance, Patience and Strength
This photograph is intended to represent outstanding virtues of Japanese culture: balance, patience and strength.
Aleksandra Garbarczyk
Natural Beauty
With this composition I wanted to highlight the beauty of shape and colour possessed by organic objects, that we don’t necessarily notice in everyday life. I took this picture in my studio in Salzburg.

Together
I took this image on the road to Lake Stymphalia in the Peloponnese, Greece. The image shows a foggy field with two similar basketball hoops. However the meaning of the image is deeper than that. They stand surrounded by the fog as if they remained all alone in the world. But they have got each other, like an old couple that have spent their whole life together and they stand bravely in the face of decay.

Hard Stuff
This was one of the first ideas I had for my Misfits series. While walking through a hardware store, I noticed that the sandpaper had a similar dimension to toilet paper. Although I hope that no one has ever confused the two papers, this combination triggers physical sensations just by looking at it.
Natalie Strohmaier
Dancing Queens
This picture is part of my Unattainable Beauty series, which explores the artificial creation of beauty. The ‘flower models’ were hand assembled using needles to hold them, and photographed in the studio. I adjusted the saturation, contrast, colour and brightness in Capture One, then used Photoshop to remove the needles and clean the picture.

Pick Yourself up and Carry On
We all face hard times in our lives and recent events inspired me to create this positive-themed image. Despite being half peeled, Mr. Orange does not give up: he just picks himself up and carries on. When times get hard I turn to this image – the bright colours and wry humour always make me smile!

Micropia I
Micropia I is a 2.16 gigapixel fine art image that was created in collaboration with Micropia, a science museum in Amsterdam. Each circle is an ultra-detailed photograph of a petri dish filled with microbes, revealing the similarities and differences between life forms.
Daria Pietrasiewicz
Mushroom
This study delves into the graceful undulations of mushroom gills, juxtaposed against an intricate backdrop of the natural structure of wood.
