Fading offers a subjective view of American suburban life, challenging its idealised vision. It explores the loneliness and disconnection that arise when the promise of prosperity proves to be a mirage, delving into the emotional landscape of broken dreams and inviting introspection. Shaped by the photographer’s background in cinema, where atmosphere is key to storytelling, Fading uses mood and visual language to uncover material, emotional and existential layers within suburban scenes. Set in San Francisco’s South Bay, the project blurs the line between fiction and reality, capturing the fading moments when dreams unravel, creating a dystopian sense of absence.
I was born in Madrid and grew up on film and TV sets, fueling my passion for visual storytelling. I began assisting photographers, building the foundation for my career behind the camera. I honed my skills in film and advertising, becoming a director of photography. I've shot features and hundreds of commercials across 40+ countries, with work recognized at Cannes Lions, San Sebastián, and the Goya Awards. Photography remains my passion. My project Fading explores broken dreams and impermanence.
