Thierry Bouët, France

2013 Sony World Photography Awards - 2nd Place,Fashion & Beauty, Professional Competition

After studying law, Thierry Bouët began his career. An army photographer in his early days, he became a fashion photographer in 1981, then artistic director of the Harcourt studio.

In 1983 he chose independence and collaborated with various newspapers: Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Elle USA, Marie-Claire, L'Egoïste, Vanity Fair, Libération.

A specialist in portraiture and reporting, Thierry Bouët is inspired with irony by people, their failures, their successes and their environments.

An unclassifiable photographer, his work, his life, his travels, his emotions have been recorded for 25 years in the form of postcards. Unique works made by hand, they are sent by post to his best friend who never answers him. In 2014, he obtained the consent of Kensington Palace and began a new correspondence with Prince George of Cambridge. By writing to the future king of England without betraying his sense of irony, Thierry Bouët gives a new rhythm to this endless work.

He was elevated to the rank of knight in the Order of Arts and Letters in 2011 by the Minister of Culture, Mr. Frédéric Mitterrand.
