National & Regional Awards: first look

We’re now onto the second announcement of the season - it’s the ever popular National & Regional Awards! This special initiative recognises the best talent within a country or region, and spotlights them on both local and international levels. Photographers who enter the Sony World Photography Awards come from all over the globe and their unique perspectives topped with their technical skills are an important part of their success.

56 countries took part in this year’s National & Regional Awards and the top photographs were chosen from more than 419,000 images from over 200 countries and territories. From fascinating glimpses into local cultures to otherworldly landscapes, the winning images take the viewer on a journey around the globe.

The highly-anticipated Sony World Photography Awards exhibition returns to Somerset House, London between 17 April and 5 May. The images will be shown in a variety of ways - printed, projected and displayed digitally - to create a more immersive experience.
