Winner and shortlisted announced! November's Youth competition

The Sony World Photography Awards Youth competition is created in such a way so young photographers are given more opportunities to be the next Youth Photographer of the Year. Below are the winning and shortlisted entries from the November competition, where we asked photographers aged 12-19 years old to submit their best images of people.

A good portrait is celebrated for giving the viewer a deeper insight into the sitter. For the November competition we welcomed a variety of portraits that would evoke, arrest, inspire. Be it a studio, candid or self-portrait, the key quality the judges were looking for were images injected with feelings and emotions.

Congratulations to all successful photographers below. The winner will also be featured in a dedicated email, to our youth audience, the World Photography Organisation social media channels and will also be in the running for the Youth Photographer of the Year title, announced in 2021.

WINNER

Connor Lothian, United Kingdom, 18 years old

A big congratulations to Connor for his creative portrait. The judges were intrigued by the imaginative lighting - well done!

'I took the shoot using coloured gels because I wanted to show the beauty and emotion that can be expressed through an image. By playing with posture and colour, I was able to create empowering images, which I hope will spark something in everyone.'
