We are recieving some fantastic entries to the Open competition of the 2017 Sony World photography Awards. Over the next few weeks, in the run up to the deadline in January, we'll be choosing out favourites.

Tugo Cheng is an award-winning photographer,and an architect by trade,based in Hong Kong.He was shortlisted in the 2016 Sony World Photography Awards with his image of a farmer fishing in southern China.

"My work explores themes where the personal and the political intersect, including individual and collective memory and identity, the state of the world and the neighborhood where I live."
