Landscape Shortlist

I photographed the surroundings of Minas de Rio Tinto in the province of Huelva, Spain, throughout 2021. It is a landscape altered by man's hand in which pine forests coexist with the remains of minerals extracted from the earth and dumped copper extraction. With the passage of time, these minerals sediment and form a diversity of textures. In some situations they resemble trees, and in these cases the terrain seems to pay homage to the trees that existed before the transformation.

I began taking nature pictures 7 years ago, before that I just took pictures when I was traveling, without any ambitions. In these years photography took all my spare time as a hobby. At the beginning I started with landscapes and patterns, but quickly I felt in love with wild animals, birds over all, and I improved with every new discover I did in hiding techniques and birds behavior. Today, a big part of my photography is about birds, but I prefer a more creative approximation, showing their relationship with environment and looking for diffuse pictures and non-traditional images, where pixel peeping or definition are not important. In the last 5 years, I was honored with several awards in nature photography contests, as FotoFio, FotoAves, Fotonoja, Cádiz Photo Nature, Memorial Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente, Montphoto, Memorial María Luisa, Nature Photographer Of The Year, GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, ND Awards, Oasis Photocontest, Narava, Photo Montier, Nature Namur, Bird Photographer Of The Year, Siena Creative Photo Awards, Drone Photo Contest, Monochrome Photography Awards, AsisaFoto, All Over Winner Glanzlichter 2018 and The Photographer of the Year Golden Turtle 2018.
