Series description
A portfolio of work from different projects including Riverland, an analogue photography project that I started in 2020. It depicts various scenes – portraits, still lifes and landscapes – taken in and around the rivers and waterways of Southern France. With the series I want to portray the way a meandering river echoes the continuing and unexpected course that life takes.
Biography
Marjolein is a Dutch photographer, based in France. She has always been drawn to photography from an early age, and has continued using and exploring the medium throughout her life, while raising a family of six children. Her photography touches on the poetic, while striving to remain authentic and true at the same time.The prime focus of her work is on everyday life - people, places and things that touch her.
She works on personal projects and commissions.

Thomas, from La Classe de Josephine
La Classe de Josephine is a project that I worked on during the intense Covid lockdown period in France. The portraits are all of 5th grade, primary school age children. Their face-masks were briefly taken off before shooting, while I kept mine on at all times. The ultimate focus is on the children – their personality and sense of self, with perhaps a glimpse of the future young adults they are on the verge of becoming.
