Towering cranes are part of the urban image in a big city like Düsseldorf, moving heavy components and machines at dizzying heights above construction sites. Mats and bars of iron float silently, seemingly aimless, lingering for a while and being transformed into temporary works of art until they finally disappear into the building for eternity.
For many months I visited numerous construction sites, waiting for a suitable subject, often in vain. The minimalist representation directs the viewer's gaze to the essentials: works of art in transition.
I live in a neighbouring city of Düsseldorf (Germany) and since 2011 I am working intensively with photography. With my camera I am particularly looking for the "special in the everyday”. Structures, shapes and colors in urban space are my preferred subjects. In a minimalist, reduced manner, I try to direct the view to the essential. Frontal perspective, no disturbing backgrounds and the focus solely on the motif are often seen in my works. I often additionally emphasizes the minimalism of my works by underlaying them with grey tones, nothing should distract the viewer from the subject.
Numerous of my pictures have been awarded national and international photography prizes. to be emphasized are successes at the SONY WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS as category winner in the Open Competition 2018 and 2021, as well as seven additional shortlisted images. In my first participation in the Professional Competition of the SONY WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS 2023, my series" Temporary Art-works" was shortlisted. As further awards at renowned photo competitions exemplarily are: MINIMALIST PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS 2023, 1st Place Open Category, PX3 PRIX DE LA PHOTOGRAPHIE PARIS 2023, GOLD WINNER Architecture, International COLOR AWARDS 2021, 1st Place Category Architecture, SIENA International Photo Awards Category Winner 2019
