Landscape 2nd Place

In September 2023 I arrived in Palermo, in the midst of a gripping environmental problem that was unfolding across Sicily. The canvas of the night sky had been transformed into a captivating tableau as the flames from ongoing wildfires painted a surreal and enchanting spectacle. The ethereal glow was a juxtaposition of beauty and devastation.

Jim’s practice looks at people and community, searching for universal human connections. He often finds himself in people’s lives that can only be described as difficult. This is where he looks for hope, even joy, in the shadows, 

Something never taken for granted is the power of the camera to unlock others’ lives. He adheres to the belief that when you respect place, and people, you earn this back in return.
