Series description
Taking Macao's once-thriving oyster farming industry as the theme of an ‘archeological’ exploration, the series Oyster Mountain took advantage of the low-angle viewpoint and centered the composition to capture the oyster reefs as majestic mountains with the moving waves turned into fog. The work reveals the connection between classical Chinese landscape painting with black and white photography. It symbolises the significance of the traditions which have been slowly disappearing in the process of modernization, as Macao becomes a more glitzy and glamorous destination,and to remind the viewers of the importance of maintaining a balance between environmental protection and economic growth.
Biography
Currently DFA ( Doctor of Fine Arts ) student at the University of Macau, Haozheng Wu is a photographer from Suzhou, China. His works have been exhibited at the China Art Museum in Shanghai, Artron Art Centre in Beijing, Venetian Macao, etc.; and have won many awards, including Shortlisted in SONY World Photography Award 2024, Honorable Mention in the 20th International Photography Awards (IPA) in the USA, and Honorable Mention in Tokyo International Foto Award 2023 (TIFA) in Japan.
