From Istanbul’s Rooftops to the Wari Festival: Entries of the Week
This week’s selection from the Sony World Photography Awards 2027 Single Image competition spans wildlife, architecture, cultural traditions and portraiture.
In South Africa’s Sabi Sands, a lion cub fixes its gaze on its unsuspecting sibling, capturing the moment before a playful pounce. From above, Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar becomes a study in geometry, its red-tiled rooftops and grey lead domes forming an intricate pattern.
In Maharashtra, India, the Wari Festival unfolds beneath a monsoon sky, while in Bolivia, a procession moves towards a church like a wave. Elsewhere, a portrait from Austria examines perceptions of masculinity, and a shepherd’s daily routine offers a glimpse of life shaped by the rhythms of nature.
These are just some of the incredible scenes featured in this week’s entries.
