Adam Pretty, Australia

2022 Sony World Photography Awards - 2nd Place, Sport, Professional Competition

2013 Sony World Photography Awards - Winner, Sport, Professional Competition

Adam began his career as a news photographer at The Sydney Morning Herald in 1997 and his desire to specialise in sport photography saw him move to Getty Images in 1998. Since joining the Getty Images team, Adam has been based in Sydney, Los Angeles, Beijing, Tokyo and currently lives in Munich. Adam has photographed nine Olympic Games, and covered assignments around the globe for magazines including Time Magazine, Harpers Bazaar, Sports Illustrated, Life Magazine, Bild and Marie Claire. Adam's pre-eminence in the field of sport action and sports reportage photography has been recognised widely throughout the photographic world. He has been awarded a number of major internat ional awards, and in 2010 and 2017 was part of the World Press Photo competition jury in Amsterdam. Always seeking new challenges and experiences in photography, in 2007 Adam decided to broaden his expertise and began shooting advertising projects alongside his sports work, and has just started directing (and filming) video projects in 2021. Through both his advertising and sports photography as well as his videography, Adam constantly challenges people’s perceptions with creativity and fresh ideas capturing familiar subjects in unique ways.
