Nicol Vizioli, Italy

2011 Sony World Photography Awards - Student Focus Winner

 

Nicol Vizioli is a multimedia artist who works primarily with photography and film. Coming from a fine art background, Nicol’s imagery is wide ranging, incorporating representational and symbolic motifs, mythology, painting and manifesting a deep interest in the natural and animal world. Her work is the convergence point of these worlds. Trained in cinema and visual arts in Rome and photography at University of The Arts London, her practice is underlined by a meticulous craftsmanship and significant devotion to raw physicality, creating brutal but subtle imagery. With the same principles, Nicol is also exploring different media, currently combining her studio work with film projects and more recently sculpture.

 

Her work has been exhibited in several international galleries and art fairs such as Scope Basel, Somerset House, the Zabludowicz CollectionThe XV Biennale de la Mediterranée. Nicol has also been a guest lecturer at: 

Central Saint Martins, University of The Arts London (London, UK), London College of Fashion, University of The Arts London (London, UK), Ljósmyndaskólinn (Reykjavík, Iceland), Solent University (Southampton, UK), University of  Wolverhampton – School of Arts (Wolverhampton, UK), IED – Istituto Europeo di Design (Rome, IT), ISFCI – Institute of Photography and Communication (Rome, IT), La Erre (Guatemala City, Guatemala). 

 

Born in Rome, she currently lives and works in London.
