Life in Extraordinary Moments: Entries of the Week

From Fabian Pfeifhofer's breathtaking moonlit panorama of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo in the Italian Dolomites and Frédéric Guitton's glowing winter landscape in Finnish Lapland, to Woo Jung Choi's vibrant celebration of colour during a festival in India and Alejandro M. Ornelas's dramatic depiction of Tultepec's fiery "toritos" tradition in Mexico, this week's selection showcases remarkable moments from around the world. Along the way, discover Rodolphe Foucher's striking portrait of a Choctaw stickball player, Anastasia Louhenapessy's split-shot of dolphins swimming beneath a fishing platform in Indonesia, Yasser Alaa Mobarak's atmospheric portrait of a camel trader at one of Egypt's oldest livestock markets, and Troy Baines's joyful image of his dog enjoying a rare sunny day on the shores of Loch Lomond.

Every photograph entered into the Single Image competition is automatically entered into our monthly prize draw, giving photographers another opportunity to be recognised throughout the year. Each month, one winner and two runners-up are selected, receiving 50, 20 and 10 Image Bundles respectively. These free entries can be used to submit even more work to the competition, giving photographers additional chances to be featured and recognised.

Monthly winners don't just receive free entries. At the end of the awards cycle, they also go head-to-head in the People's Choice Vote on Instagram, where the public decides the overall favourite. The winning image is then exhibited as part of the Sony World Photography Awards exhibition at Somerset House, London, placing the photographer's work before thousands of visitors from around the world.
